The 67 year young lady from South carolina who i sat beside on the plane from Lima to Cuzco yesterday morning told me that snake tastes exactly like chicken.
I fell in love with Cuzco the moment we were no longer flying through the clouds. The montains are carpetted in a beautiful deep green and the vilages all roofed in red clay. THe sun was shining and the people were less pushy than Lima at the airport. We caught a ´¨oficial taxi¨to the orphange and after some confusion finally made it there. SOme poeple met us outside and a little girl who wasnt as h¡young as she looked carried my huge ass bback pack all the way up 2 flights of uneaven stairs. We med a few addorble little boys who repeated our named over and over to remmember. We met the other volunteers breifly they are all from england and there are only 6 of them. Side note WALKING ON SUNSHINE IS PAYING IN THE INTERNET CAFE RIGHT NOW...
Anyway we got a bed room with 3 beds, a window view of a roof with a big black dog with giant balls ...in the distance beactuful mountains.
We walked around and it was very warm out cuzco is beautifl friendly and happy not very extrememly humid. I havent noticed the 30% decrease in oxygen levels and i am not at all bothered by the fact that we are 10 000 ft bove sea level. I think i ate snake but they called it chicken it was on my plate with some snotty ¨mashed potatoes¨ and rice shaped like a doughnut. We struggled hard to order and when we did the waiter was trying to tell us something for like10 minutes and tthen ended up getting a lady who could speak english to tell us that we had to pay before we ate. SO we did and then she informed us that that they dont have what we ordered so we got ¨chicken and mashed potatoes¨ lunch made us feel sick and then we went home and passd out for a day and a half woke up the next morning .. TOday we woke up at about 8am and headed out to find some food. I was very pumped to find some bananas! We got some giant bottles of water and sugarless peru chocolate.. we sat on a grassy little hill in the middle of the lanes of trafic. There is alot of lushes green trees and short plants everywhere its really pretty. Sitting on this hill with out picknick was quite piecefull unil a man came up to us and a sked our names and if we spoke spanish we said no and then he just kept speeking to us in spanish and we were ignoring him byu tghe end of it cause he just would go away. We ate some ice cream and now we want to go find a market I think. The ophanage deal is very unstructured and we havent really figured out what to do withourselves yet. We are kind of just dazed and confuzed, all i know is there is a nice litle fr uit stand right down the alley from where we stay and that makes me very happy. I woke up thismorning dreaming about somekind of dramma and then looked out the window and realized i was in PERU. THis is crazy and i cant wait to fully experience everything.
The world is my oyster!.. the sky is my clam...
Im attemting to learn spanish!
PEace outtt
